does that above link fix? if not, assuming your ubuntu is 32bit, kindly try latest driver from Canon as per link http://support-sg.canon-asia.com/contents/SG/EN/0100459601.html and follow guided info. As for me, mine is 15.04 64 bit and lost 4 days to make it work and just recently finished.
